A book I liked is called ‘Attack of The Mutant’ by: R.L Stine in the Goosebumps series. The book is about a kid who loves comic books, and one day he sees a weird looking building that looks exactly like a building in his comic book! He decides to go in the building and he sees everything just like his comic book described! He sees the superheroes who have been trapped and he sees a super villain who can shape shift into anything!!!(just like in the comic!) He frees a superhero hoping that he would help him destroy the super villain but the superhero runs away leaving Skipper (the boy) to defeat the super villain himself. He has to avoid traps and defeat the mutant by himself!! This is a great book because it is full of action.

He was sent to jail because he had a drug addiction,he had to borrow money from a friend to buy those drugs. The book that I am reading is Haunted Animals. It is written by Allan Zullo and it is published by Rainbow Bridge. I really like this book because it has alot of different ghost stories of animals. Most of them are true, but they are not that scary for me.

The book I am reviewing is called The Marvel Encyclopedia. It tells you everything there is to know about Marvel superheros. This unique, one volume encyclopedia contains more than 1200 of Marvels greatest, with full details of their powers. It profiles all superheros, supervillains, and hero and villain teams. It also tells you about events like superhero Civil War, Secret Invasion, M day and Anhillation Wave.

Did you know that it took seven contributors to create this book. Their names are Tom DeFalcom, Peter Sanderson, Tom Brevoort, Michael Teitelbaum, Daniel Wallace, Andrew Darling and Matt Forbeck. The book has an introduction by Stan Lee. At the end of the introduction Stan says, Excelsior!

Today, I`m going to review “Sadako and the thousand paper cranes”, a book written by Eleanor Coerr.

This book is about a young Japanese girl who got a disease called leukemia. This was from radiation caused by an atom bomb dropped on her country during the Second World War. Sadako was a student in a school in Hiroshima. In her school, she joined relay racing team. She practiced very hard until it is the day of her race. On the day of the race, she ran as fast as she could, but, started feeling dizzy. She ignored it and decided to keep it a secret.

One day when she was running at school she felt dizzy and fell on the ground. A teacher called her parents and they took her to the hospital. Upon diagnoses, it was found that she is suffering from Leukemia. Her grandmother died from the same disease. She became really upset and started crying. She was admitted to hospital.

Next day, her best friend, Chizuko Hamamoto visited Sadako in the hospital, knowing that she had leukemia. Chizuko told Sadako about the legend of the 1000 paper cranes. That if a person folded 1000 paper cranes, the person would be granted health and a long life. Chizuko taught Sadako to make paper cranes. Sadako would make paper cranes continuously. Then one day Sadako saw a boy sitting by the window. She started a conversation with him. His name was Chinko, he was a 9 year-old boy and he was also suffering from leukemia. Sadako told him about the legend of the thousand paper cranes. That night Sadako made a paper crane and slid it down the hall to Chinko. The next day she didn`t see him at the window. She wondered what happened to him. At night, she heard a hospital bed rolling down the hall. In the morning, her nurse told her that Chinko had passed away. Sadako cried when she heard that her friend had died. Sadako still continued making paper cranes so everyone in the hospital could be cured of the disease or infection. Unfortunately, Sadako died on October, 25, 1955, only completing 644 paper cranes. In order that Sadako could be buried with 1000 paper cranes, her class mates made the rest 356 and buried them with her.

I thought this story was a really good story because Sadako`s statue became a symbol of peace in Japan. Sadako, the statue represents the people who lost their lives or became really ill from the atom bomb. Many countries try to solve problems with war. War has its consequences. It takes the lives of many people. I think that war is a solution for nothing, it just creates more problems.

The book I am going to review is called ‘Powerless’ by Mathew Cody. It is 277 pages long. This book is about a group of kids that have superpowers that have been passed down from their elders. But not everybody has a GOOD power. One kid had the power of taking away other people’s powers! He named himself ‘The Shroud’! Now whenever a kid with powers turns thirteen and they fall asleep, ‘The Shroud’ sneaks into their house and takes away their powers and their memory of even having powers! This book has a power. You can’t put it down! I would give this book a rating of…drum roll… eleven out of ten! I know it’s off the charts, but it’s just that good! Who is ‘The Shroud’ and can a group of kids that are under the age of thirteen stop him? This book is totally AWESOME!!!

Today I read an article called “The History of Science and Technology.” This article’s idea is on how humanity understands the natural world (the science part of this sentence) and the ability to manipulate it (technology) has changed in that past few years. Here are a few new things I learnt about in this article. There is one particular scientist that has been practicing and also retired that has been writing many of the books on the history of science. This particular scientist had originally written these books. His name is William Whewell. He wanted to tell the world that science is also important to the world. He did it through books because he had no other way to communicate to the world. There is another scientist that this specific article was talking about it is Boris Hessen he was given the famous paper in the early 1930s after he got that most of his time was spent on practicing with needs and motivations of their context. What they mean by that is Boris spent all his time learning with things he needed to and the motivations got him through it. I bet he studied really hard to do what he was passionate for doing. After World War 2 many resources were put down for teaching and researching. Modern engineering is understood differently than back in the late 1900s. Our science and technology is taken differently because it’s through mostly mathematics and science. Many different religions built on this certain work. Some of them are Greek, Egyptians, Chinese, Indians and Muslims. I hope you learnt some new things from my little facts in my paragraph. Sorry g2g I would talk about more though!
