A day for Change

Today, we witnessed history.  Although the politics happened in the United States of America, the message of unity, community and making promises to be better people holds true in our school and at home.  Share with us your thoughts about today.  What was different about today? What did you learn about yourself and how you can improve as a person? Does Barack Obama mean anything to you and if so…how?

You are not expected to answer each of these questions, but they might help to start your thinking.  We all look forward to your thoughts.

Today was so great!I loved being able to watch America’s very first African American president Barack Obama. Barack Obama means a lot to me. It shows that if you have dream you should go after it no matter what your skin colour is and no matter what you believe in. I was never really interested in the presidents but ever since I heard an African American was running for president i was soon very interested in it. If it wasn’t for Martin Luther King we wouldn’t have Barack Obama as a president. I think the message that Barack Obama is sending is great. Well that is all i have to say so talk to you later(ttyl) bye!

Today was different because it was making history.Never before this day had a African-American become president of the U.S.A.I learned that I can achieve a high position in anything if I am willing to work for it.I can improve as a person by setting high, challenging goals so I will be able to do more things in life.Barack Obama means a lot to me because he shows that if you try hard, and if you choose to do something out of the ordinary,it’s fine and you can achieve your goal in it.

This day is very remarkable knowing that all of these other African Americans who have been working so hard because of the slavery and racism, and these people such as Martin Luther King Jr. Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and many more. Also now with all of these hard working years the final product was The first African American
president Barack Obama This day had made History and happiness to all of those people who have worked for all of these years. Also to think to say president is just a word but it means alot since America is a really big place and a president takes care of all of those places where millions of people live in like one state. Now Barack Obama is that person who will be doing that and and yet the first African American president. Barack Obama has helped all of these people and has inspired everyone with his famous “Yes We Can” speech. Now for his determination I would try to be a good citizen and and try to communicate in better ways. Barack Obama is alot to all of us since 1. He has made history being the first African American president 2. He has said that he will help countries around the world. Those are reeally good reasons and there are many more

    Barack Obama!! 😀

Barack obama is an african american, and so was martin luther king. ling ago, whites were bossing the blacks. blacks could only go to the zoo on thursday whereas the whites get 2 go whenever they want. if u were a black person and u were sitting on a bus seat, and a white person wants that seat, u have to give it to them.
That is what i have to say about today

Today, Jan 20th,2009 is a historic day for all of America and the World. Barack Obama is the first African-American to become president of the United States of America. He was sworn-in at about 12:00pm. Obama mentioned it numerous times, that it is not about me but about all of America. He says this because the man (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.),who brought the freedom to black people in America was also of African decent. Without him, Obama says, ‘I wouldn’t even be able to run for president!’No one in this world is perfect, everyone can improve at something, I can try harder in school , make more friends no matter what they like. Today was very important in the USA, as some are going to watch before going to bed at night and some during the day. Some see this as a bad move for Obama as a president (McCain’s supporters). I find it is just like an experiment, if he does good keep him he doesn’t well then that was a mistake.Barack Obama was a smart choice I say.

On behalf of all Canadians, we welcome Obama to our country. Barack Obama’s inauguration address will call on Americans to embrace a new era of responsible behaviour –– in government and in business. Change is hard, yes it is. But you can do it, yes you can. You, too, can morph into the style and substance of the most popular, the most gripping, certainly the most eye-catching family on the face of the Earth. “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” Obama said. It doesn’t matter what your skin colour is or what religion you’re from. We are all the same. We hope Obama proves to be an ideal president for America in the future years to come.

Today was difrent because Obama became the first African Amarican Presedent of the U.S.A. But if Martin Luther King didn`t give the path for Obama, Obama would may not have become Presedent of the U.S.A.

Today we witnessed history for the first African American to become the President of the united states. Today we saw unity among the people, despite the race, color and culture.Today I learned that even though we face new challenges, our success depends on old values- hard work and honesty, courage and curiosity, fair play and tolerance. I should also be responsible and do my duties and not take everything for granted. I should work really hard and get good grades that help me succeed in my future. Nothing is impossible. As they say where there is will there is a way. I also learned that every one is equal. And we have to work with courage and selflessness. Good citizenship should be with in everybody. Barack Obama is a great inspiration to young generations like us. He motivates us by bringing good in us and becoming a better person. He also reminds us that we can achieve anything in life if we work hard for it. And pass with flying colors.

Today was a great day, as Barack Obama became the first African American president of the United States of America. I believe Obama is going to be a good president. As he promised today, in his speech, that he will stop the war and bring peace. Obama wouldn’t even be president if it wasn’t for Martin Luther King, Obama would probably be a slave right now and millions of other people if Martin Luther King didn’t stand up for the civil rights. Really, I didn’t like George Bush because, he has started a lot of wars and he really isn’t good at his job
Today the main thing I learned was that if you follow your dream then it would come true.☺

Today Barack Obama was made President of the United States Of America.
Barack Obama is the first African American President.
If it wasn’t for Martin Luthar King,
Barack Obama would not be President of the United States

Today was different because we witnessed history with Barack Obama becoming the first African American president. In his message he talked about the importance of working hard and working together for a common goal. He also talked about not giving up when you are faced with a challenge. Barack Obama is an example of this, because you cannot become the first African American president of the United States (something no one else has ever done)without alot of hard work and determination. This teaches me that I too can do anything I want if I set my mind to it. Barack Obama also spoke about the importance of having tolerance for others and working toward peace. He talked about people coming from many different parts of the world to live in America. The students at Kindree also come from many different places around the world. If we can learn to accept our cultural differences and solve problems peacefully at school, then we should be able to do it as adults. I most likely will not become the Prime Minister of Canada one day, but Barack Obama has taught me that if I have hope and work hard in life good things will happen.

My thoughts about today were about Brack Obama, because today he was swarn in today to be the first black African, Amarican Presedent ever in the U.S. The diffrent thing about today was that not every day a black Presedent is swarn into be the Presedent. When Presedent Bush was presedent not many people were selebrating becuase it was diffrent. But the first Black presedent it showed people that it didn’t matter what colour you were it mattered about you persanalate and how you handle hard situations.Brack wasn’t just chosen because he was black. He was chosen because of those reasons and because people beived in him.I laerned that it dosen’t matter what colour you are you can do what ever want as long as you put your mind to it.Obama says he is a normal man but to me he is one of my HERO!

Although the Inauguration of President Obama was a week ago, I still feel the excitement and sense of hope that this monumental event has brought to the whole world. The election of an African American to the office of President of the United States is proof positive that “Yes, we can!” do what needs to be done and be who we need to be. President Obama’s rise to the office of President is very symbolic to me–it symbolizes hope. Hope that we can all learn to appreciate, accept and respect our differences–whether they are skin colour, gender, age, beliefs, cultural heritage, etc. We do that here at Kindree. We have a very diverse community and I truly believe our strength comes from that diversity. Actually, come to think of it, the world could learn a lot from our school!!
