I love music. Music is a great way to express yourself. I love listening to cultural music and music without words, I love to make my own music up too! I mostly love listening to music at home. If I was listening to music at school I will get to distracted and be not paying attention. Sometimes I sneak some music in. I wish we could learn how to play the guitar in music class because for some reason we can’t and to me it’s a beautiful music to listen to and play. My top 5 favourite songs on my playlist in no particular order are

    1. I Knew You Were Trouble By: Taylor Swift
    2. Glad You Came By: Steve Mac
    3. Ready or Not By: Bridgit Mendler
    4. Cut and Dry By: Kevin Macleod
    5.Hurricane By: Bridgit Mendler

    1. Imagine a world without music….no more instruments, songs, catchy little tunes, or even nursery rhymes. This is what the world would be like if music education did not exist. Music is a great part of school; I love all the things we learn (like songs or how to play orff instruments), all the opportunities we get (such as choir for the concert) and of course, our very own music teacher, Mrs.Tipler. Some things I wish I could do in music class are being able to choose specific instruments to learn, be allowed to experiment with various everyday objects to make our own melodies, or just have days where we just listen to a piece of music and share our thoughts on it. Music is present everywhere! For example, while typing this, I am listening to music on my Ipod. But, I also listen to music on the radio, television show’s themes or in the morning everyday with “O’ Canada”. In conclusion, music education is very, very important and having “Music Monday” to honour it is a great idea!

    2. My Top 5 Favourite Songs:

    1. “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton

    2. Hindi Songs (I can’t choose just 1!)

    3. “Walk Like an Egyption” by The Bangles

    4. “Nenjakulle” (Tamil Song) by A.R. Rahman

    5. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper

Of course, there are many more, like “I Set Fire To The Rain” by Adele, “Black and White” by Michael Jackson, “Manic Monday” by The Bangles or “Wannabe” by The Spice Girls……..☺☻

Why do you like music and when and where do you listen to it most at home or school?
I think I listen to music because it’s around us when playing, gym activities, music class, dance, assembly’s and morning announcements. At home I mostly listen to cultural music when relatives come over.

Are you lover of all music types and do you engage with music by making your own?
I am a lover of some music type such as cultural music, music that does not have any words. But I do not like jazz or rap music. I actually don’t make music I am engaged with music by listening to it and hearing it.

    Do enjoy music in school?
I really enjoy music in school because it teaches you lot of different and new instrument that interests you or it teaches you about the tempo and all about the music. In music class whenever we get a new song she tells us where it came from and the person who made it.

Is music present in other areas of a school day and not music class?
Music is present in other areas of a school day such as
    – Gym class= music plays on while we are doing activities
    – In the morning= everybody sings the anthem- In the morning= everybody sings the anthem
    – Sometimes there might be a concert we sing songs and on assembly’s

What are your top 5 songs?
    1. Good feeling
    2. Oh Canada
    3. Is somebody singing
    4. William-what I am
    5. Some nights

I like to listen to pop music and, since I’ve been doing ballet, I fell in love with classical music too. I also like tranquil music with peaceful nature sounds and without words. I don’t really like rock music and sometimes I like to create my own songs. I enjoy music in school, I just wish we could learn to play the piano. I listen to songs at home, school and on car trips. At school, I get to enjoy music in our music class, in the Gym and in my class. My top 5 favourite songs are:
    1. “Neon lights”-Demi Lovato
    2. “The Lonely Sheperd”-Gheorghe Zamfir
    3. “Let it go”-Demi Lovato
    4. “Canon in D major”- Johann Pachelbel
    5. “Love is an open door”-Kristen Bell
I think music is important in schools and in any other part of our lives, because it can be so calming and also uplifting and inspiring, music can teach us stories and help us express so many emotions.

I guess I like all types of music, but I prefer fast music over slow songs. I like music in school, because it’s the only place where I can learn new songs be educated on how to play instruments, since we have a wide variety of them.

The only thing I wish we could have (but don’t) is the opportunity to choose what songs we want to sing in concerts, choirs etc. I don’t want the decision entirely up to us, though; the music teacher could choose a few of the songs we selected, and we could have a class vote on which one we will sing. This would be good, because sometimes, people come to choir practice all excited and anxious, but by the end of it, they say to themselves, “why did I join this?”
