Re-Thinking Things…
categories: Project 365
As a culture, we have historically placed “disabled” persons in a negative way. The term “disabilities” assumes that they are not able. The Paraorchestra shows how we need to rethink how these persons are viewed.
Please write 2-3 sentences per line explaining your new thinking.

2.my connection is to my PS3 like i didn’t know you can get this game that you can get on your ipod too.
3.this video relates to the book the pink refrigerator because dogsworth does the same thing ever day but in the video the disablied people played music.

In our school we do have children that are disabled but that doesn’t change them in anyway. The richest person in the world could be disabled, that doesn’t change anything he is still like you and me in many ways. 2. One surprise : In the video the man was born without his right hand….. he plays the piano with his left hand – his only hand, he may not have two hands like most people but he is amazing at playing the piano. In the video there were many people with disabilities playing musical instruments, just because they are disabled doesn’t mean they can’t participate in other stuff like playing instruments. 3. How does this relate to what we have been learning at school : This video is similar to what we have been learning this year because we have been learning about difference. The video is saying since they are disabled doesn’t mean they aren’t like you and me. – Amrita 🙂

January 28, 2013 at 6:43 pm (11 years ago)I play the piano and I know it is hard to learn. These musicians are very talented and it should not matter to others that they are diabled. It surprised me that a man who could only blow into a tube could use a comptuer to play an instrument. I remember watching the autism videos and this is very simliar because it opens your mind to what other people have to go through.

January 29, 2013 at 4:37 pm (11 years ago)My connection to the video was when I was in the USA, I was walking on the streets and I saw a man playing a instrument, he was blind. He was really good. I surprised that all the students in the class knew how to play and were all on the right note, even if the were disabled. Also I wonder why there was no one that was in there watching because I’m sure I would if I heard music like that I come and watch them. This relates to the book ”The Royal Bee” because these people were known as people that were disabled, like the boy in the book was known as just a peasant. Then when the people got together and played the music people had thought of them as now musicians. The boy was helped by the teacher and when he won the Royal Bee he was known as the ”winner of the Royal Bee”. Thats what I have to say.

January 29, 2013 at 5:10 pm (11 years ago)One connection : There are many people with disabilities, and I have met a few of them in our school and also I play fittens friends with them and people don’t really care if there disabled or not well not like “don’t care” like they do care and play with them what I mean in don’t care is like ok froget can’t let’s move on.One superise. In the viseo the man was born without his left hand and he plays the panio. with too hands it’s easier and with one hand not so easy is it? I still can’t belive he plays the panio with one hand.In the video there were many people with disabilities playing musical instruments so that does not mean they can’t participate. moveing on.How does this relate to what we have been learing in school. This relates to what we have doing school because we have been learing about differences over the past month I guess so that does not mean they are differnt.BAVITA

January 29, 2013 at 5:42 pm (11 years ago)that video is awesome i never thought that a disable person could play so good in fact it is better than an able person playing.this year we have watched many videos on difference and disabilty people who are disable are actully the same as able person but some people jugde differently.also many people who have came far are disable that doesn`t make them smaller than able.somthing that suprised me was that a blind man playing an instrment it was amazing how he knew were the string was and what to play .that proves that anyone can be that talentent.in class we have disscussed and watched many videos in class realted to this topic.also we have read books and one that realited to this topic is tango makes 3.many people woundn`t think the viedo and the book normal.-Yashvi

Disable people are not different what I am trying to say is disable people can do things that we do. I was surprise that he was born with no right arm. This remembers me about a time I watched a TV and it was about a boy and he had a disablaty. That is all I am going to say.

January 29, 2013 at 6:31 pm (11 years ago)one connection:There are some people in this world who are deaf and dum .I also have a cousin in my backhome she is like that but she just graduat from her college with highest position in the region.now she is the award winning artist too.2-it surprised me that all the disable people in this video are not diffrent from us they can feel eveything they are not disable .
in other words they have more talent than us.3-it similar to a indian movie that i seen last year.In that movie a girl was blind but she discoverd the world.thats give a new thinking that every person in this world have its own guts whether they are able or disable

January 29, 2013 at 6:57 pm (11 years ago)The disabled people in this video told me that if you are disabled that does not mean that you can’t do anything. I think of disabled people as normal people, only that they do stuff differently than the way we do it. What suprised me the most is that a blind and deaf man chould play an insterment that good. At first, a blind and deaf man playing a insterment would seem totaly impossable to me, but now I know that disabled people can do anything.

January 29, 2013 at 9:21 pm (11 years ago)there all tons of people in the world who have disabilities and i know some of them because we have some in our school and like i watched the video anybody that has disabilities dosnt make them any different as what i saw and no body should be judged by the way they are because its not there fault they cant change it and everybody should be treated the same no matter who you are what surprised me in the video is that the guy couldn’t move from neck down and could play the trumpet with his mouth same with the guy that doesn’t have a right hand and those people could just play amazingly like that’s crazy good like i would never be able to do that it would probably take me a gazillion try like even though he has one hand dosnt make him different like he could play just as good as anybody else and there where more people in the video with disabilities and that dosnt mean that they cant do that stuff at school we have been learning about differences and that nobody is the same and any way and also that nobody is perfect.and i think that this video is trying to say is that just because there disabled that dosnt mean that there weird NO there just like us

Being different doesn’t mean that they don’t have any potencial, they have the same abillties as people who are not disabled. Many people think that if people are disabled they have no potencial, well,they are wrong, people who are disabled can be more intelligent or have more potencial than you!! They can be as smart as a person who is not disabled.

January 30, 2013 at 9:34 am (11 years ago)1 connection: One connection I have to this video would be that we have many kids at are school that have a disability. Someone in my class has a physical disability,she hurt her foot and is now on cruches.
1 suprise: One suprise I have to this video would be that I was suprised that those people have mental AND physical disabilitys and are able to do something so AMAZING that I probably could not do.And I guess I was stero typing because anybody can do anything even if they have a disability.
3: I think this relates to the basketball video we watched as a class earlier in the year. It relates to that because many people thought that just because the boy in the video had a disability he couldn’t be good at basketball meanwhile he is the best on the team and something similar happens in the video above!)- Kailey

It is hard to teach them and yet he is able to help them to play insturments. It is hard to program a tuba to be as small as a straw then pluged into a computer base which controls it.One suprise is how the guy had one hand how dose he get around evry day

January 30, 2013 at 5:31 pm (11 years ago)1. One connection: I have seen disabled people before. They’re no different then us except they just do whatever comes to there brain first. I also watched two videos in class about a lady with autism and how she felt stuff in many ways to communicate with other people.
2. One surprise: Is how the man could play an instrument sort of like a trumpet by just blowing in a mouth piece and the sound was computerized. He is disabled in the way that he can’t move anything under his neck. So it’s cool how disabled people can follow there dream even if an obstacle (disabilities) gets thrown in their way.
3. This relates to the time we read a book about a player on a basketball team that had autism and he was like the best player on the team and it was in a normal high school. He always won the games for his team. He was encouraged to keep playing as hard as he can by the audience and his teammates.

One surprise… One surprise is that all those people were easily playing musical instruments in different ways, for example the girl was using the ipad and rubbing her face on it and the boy who couldn’t see or hear was playing through technology.
Relation… This realates to the video we viewed in class about the boy who had autism and played basketball but the team would not put him. Then when they did he did great

January 31, 2013 at 8:40 pm (11 years ago)I had some new thoughts about the disability of a person. The new thoughts were that they should have seperate school or collage or any other learning places where they could have a good sense of the new technology and other curriculums happening around the world. They should have their whole interests while learning.
1.One connection:I’ve seen a woman near our neighbourhood,with disabled balance. She used this kind of balancing support that helped her walking and travelling around the park or i’m walking to school she takes a walk in the morninig,mostly during summer.
2. One surprise: The he was born with only one hand and he could play the piano very well.
3.How does this relate to another thing:
This relates to a book that i’ve read in class. It is called the ”Pink Refrigerator”. This book tells that dodsworth went to the junkyard and found a fridge and their was a note on it that said “paint pictures” so he opened the fridge door and saw paint and paint brushes so he took them and painted. Then the next day their was another note so it said read more books and when he opened the door again,he saw a pile of books so he took them and started reading. The next their was another note that said explore more so when dodworth opened the door their was nothing so he went back and explored the ocean because he never saw one. So this book showed that dodsworth tryed new things even if he didnt know how to.
That’s why some books tell at the end “dont sit their ans ne lazy like dodsworth,instead be more and feel like an explorer”.

February 2, 2013 at 12:15 pm (11 years ago)One connection:There are lots of people in the world with disabilities.But that doesen`t mean they are different.Every human being is gifted by god with a wonderful talent,and what Rolf gahlaar created is an amazing creation.I love the fact that a disabled peson gets a chance to do what they want to do.People around the world are not respected because they are disabled.They are treated very differently.In the video that guy couldn`t hear or see but he played the clarinet beautifully.I am on crutches myself and now i know how hard it is to have physical disability.The people in the video is wonderful-:)

One example is Stevie Wonder’s he can play the piano and he is blind. He is really good at it. what I am trying to say is that even though stevie Winder’s can’t see he learned how to play the piano because he keeped on trying over and overuntil he got it right. So that proves that even though people have disabilitys they can still do alot of stuff.

Even though they have disabilities they can do the same things that we do expect maybe in A different way than us. I was really surprised that that all those people in the video that are disable can play instruments. Another thing that surprised me was that the first person that they show in the video is playing the piano with only his left hand because he was born without a right hand. I play the piano so I know how hard it is to play the piano. Imagine how hard it would to play the piano with only your left hand. You shouldn’t judge a person without meeting them first. This video reminds me of a book that we read in class. The book was called “The Pink Refrigerator”. In the book the main character Dogsworlth is very lazy, everyday he goes to the dump to get stuff for his trift shop. Then he sees a refrigerator with a magnet that he likes. Dogsworlth trys to get the magnet off, But he can’t. Then he looks at the note the magnet is holding the note says Paint pictures. Then he goes home and starts painting. Everyday he goes back to the refrigerator and everyday it says something different. Everyday Dodsworlth does what the note says then it inspires him to follow his dream no matter what.
